I just got off the phone with my wife and kids. They’re on their way back from visiting family in Pittsburgh. Usually, right before I get off the phone with them, my kids will say, “I love you dad, you’re the best dad I ever had.”
What floors me about that statement is that I don’t always feel like the best dad they ever had. At times I feel like a failure, and that I don’t measure up. Yet, to them I am the best dad they ever had.
The scripture says that God highly values kids. I’m learning to listen more to what my kids say. I think it’s God’s way of showing me what His heart is truly like.
My kids don't care about what I've done they only care about who I am - their dad. God feels the same way about you. He doesn't care about what you've done, He only cares about who you are - His Beloved.
